VILLARICA PAWNSHOP began as a single proprietorship established by MRS. PAZ R. VILLARICA, a jeweler from Meycauayan, Bulacan, It was established sometime in May 1954 at 616 P. Paterno St., Quiapo, Manila. On August 23, 1980, Mrs. Paz R. Villarica died and the surviving heirs decided to put up a corporation to continue its business operation under the name VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. which was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 5, 1981. As years go by, the management of VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. decided to established branches in different parts of Metro Manila to maintain its competitiveness and market share in the industry with other leading pawnshops and has put its allied sister company such as H. VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC., HL VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. and HRV VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. While most of its branches are located within Metro Manila area, it has established its business presence in other provinces such as Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and other parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. As of June 2014, it is operating more than six hundred branches to serve the needs of its clients.

The management of VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. has adopted a credit policy designed to maximize and provide utmost service to its clients. Our interest rate varies from as low as 4% per month, the latter being the standard rate of the majority of pawnshops. The interest rate of any particular branch is determined by the competition within the area where the branch is located. While pawnshops are allowed to collect service charge from its clients, we have refrained from doing so. We have also adopted the standard one-month term for all our loans in addition to the 90-day reglamentary grace period within which to pay the loan and redeem the pawned items of our clients. We have adopted a liberal quarterly auction thereby benefiting clients and allowing them to redeem their articles pledged with us even after the expiration of the redemption period up to the very day of the auction date and in some cases, upon special arrangement, we also allow redemption of pawned articles even after the auction date. By and large, we have provided our clients with the most liberal terms and conditions such as the highest appraisal on all our loans and an interest rate lower than the prevailing interest being charged by majority of pawnshops in any given area of competition.

On the requirement of sending notice to its clients, we take pride in claiming that we are the only pawnshop that gives notices to our clients on three (3) different occasions instead of the usual one-time reglamentary requirement of PD 114. At the time the loan is granted, the attention of the pawner is immediately called to the scheduled date of the public auction in the event that the client fails to redeem his article. The second notice which is by ordinary mail is given within the reglamentary period before the expiration of the 90-day grace period and the third and the last notice is by registered mail, then (10) days before the date of the public auction. With the adoption of these liberal and favorable terms and conditions to its clients, it is not surprising that considering the volume of business transaction of VILLARICA PAWNSHOP over a period of sixty-five (65) years, it has no pending complaint with the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas filed by any of its clients. The records of the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas will also bear out that for the last sixty five (65) years we have never been sanctioned for any violation of PD 114 or any of its rules and regulations promulgated by Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas.

We have adopted an internal control policy designed to safeguard the valuables of our clients while in our custody and possession. We have adopted several measures which are more than those required by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas. A case in point is the safekeeping of all pawned items in a burglar proof safe within a concrete vault, which is strong enough to foil several attempted robberies in our branches. Our accountable officers and employees are required to put up a cash bond which amount is commensurate to the value of the case and/or pawned items that they are handling.

Taong 1954 noong unang itinatag ang Villarica Pawnshop ni Gng. Paz R. Villarica, isang mag-aalahas na tubong Meycauayan, Bulacan. Binuksan ang kaunaunahang tanggapan nito sa 616 P. Paterno St., Quiapo, Manila. Sa loob ng 65 na taon, ang Villarica Pawnshop ay naging takbuhan ng ating mga kababayan sa oras ng pangangailangan. Sa pagpanaw ni Gng. Paz R. Villarica noong ika 23 ng Agosto taong 1980, ang kanyang mga tagapagmana’y nagpasiya na gawing isang ganap na korporasyon ang ngayo’y kinikilalang Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. na inirehistro sa Securities and Exchange Commission noong ika-5 ng Enero taong 1981.

Sa pagdaan ng mga panahon, ang pamunuan ng Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. ay nagpasiyang paramihin pa ang mga sangay nito sa loob ng Kalakhang Maynila upang matugunan ang dumadaming transaksyon sa pagsasanla. Kasunod nito ang pagbubukas ng iba pang mga sangay sa Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite at sa iba pang mga lalawigan sa loob ng Luzon. Sa adhikaing higit pang palawigin ang serbisyo sa kapwa Pilipino, ang mga sangay sa Visayas at Mindanao ay sunod na ring pinasinayaan. Sa kasalukuyan, mayroon nang humigit kumulang na 600 na sangay sa buong Pilipinas na bukas upang magbigay ng tapat na serbisyo sa mga mamamayan.

Lalo pang pinagtibay ng VILLARICA PAWNSHOP, INC. ang kanilang patakaran sa pagpapahiram ng salapi upang maging madali para sa mga tagatangkilik nito ang mabigyan ng tamang serbisyo.

Ang interest rate ay naglalaro lamang sa 4% o mas mababa pa kada buwan. Ang 4% ay siya namang regular na singil ng ibang mga sanlaan. Nakaugalian na ng ibang sanlaan na i-base ang interest rate depende sa dami ng kompetisyon sa isang lokasyon. Dagdag pa rito nakaugalian na rin ng ibang sanlaan ang pangongolekta ng service charge sa kanilang mga kostumer. Ang Villarica Pawnshop ay nanatiling walang kaukulang singil sa serbisyong inihahandog nito. Ipinagtibay rin ng Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. ang Standard One -Month Term para sa lahat ng pautang nito dagdag pa sa 90 -day Reglementary Grace Period upang mabayaran at matubos ng kostumer ang kanilang isinanlang pag-aari. Naging isang tradisyon na rin ng Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. ang magkaroon ng Quarterly Auction upang mabigyan ng pagkakataong mabili muli ng kostumer na nagsanla ang kanyang alahas kahit ito’y naremata na. May mga pagkakataon din, depende sa napagkasunduan, maari pa rin itong bilihin ng kostumer kahit tapos na ang naturang auction.

Sa kabuuan, ang Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. ay ang may pinakamaluwag na tuntunin sa pagpapautang sa kliyente nito. Ito rin ang may pinakamataas na appraisal at sya namang may pinakamababang interest rate sa kahit saan pa mang lugar ng kompetisyon sa kapuluan ng Pilipinas.

Dahil mahalaga ang bawat tagatangkilik ng Villarica Pawnshop, Inc. tiniyak nito na ang transaksyon ay hindi mawawala sa gunita ng nagsanla. Tatlong beses makatatanggap ng paalaala ang kostumer mula sa Villarica. Sa oras na maaprubahan ang loan ng kostumer, agad na aabisuhan ito sa takdang petsa ng Auction sakaling hindi nito matubos ang kanyang alahas o kagamitang nakasanla. Ang pangalawang paalaala ay ipadadala sa pamamagitan ng liham sa loob ng Reglementary Period bago matapos ang 90-day Grace Period. Ang pangatlong paalaala ay ipadadala sa pamamagitan ng Registered Mail sampung araw bago maganap ang Public Auction.

Dahil sa mga sistemang ito, hindi nakapagtataka na sa dami ng mga transaksyon ng Villarica sa loob ng mahigit 65 taon na, walang kahit ano mang reklamo ang inihain ng kahit na sinong kliyente nito sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Patunay ito na hindi kailanman lumabag sa PD 114 at sa kahit na anong panuntunan nito na ipinatutupad ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ang Villarica Pawnshop, Inc.
